What We Are Reading Now!

Authors Did You Know???

Authors did you know???

That to us, your fans, you are celebrities ???
Yep !!!
In my travels and in business, when I meet up with an author I have read and followed over the years, or one I am just becoming familiar with, it’s like I am meeting
A STAR !!!
I am star struck, I’m excited, I want your autograph, I want to take a picture with you, I want to hear about who you are and what your about, I want to know all about your next book and when it will be out, I want you to know how I feel about your books,
HMMMM…
Do I sound like a stalker?
Don’t worry I am far from that
.
I am not planing to re-make the movie Misery!!!

Reading certain authors year after year and new ones too, I feel some what connected and loyal to those authors. I have listened to many of them speak about the journey and have agonized with several over deadlines.

I pre-order,
I rejoice and email congratulations when they have made a list be it major or minor. I talk about the books and post reviews. When I see a comment I’ll forward it to the author, just in cause you missed it.

This past summer at the National Book Club Conference, I finally got to meet Travis Smily, Eric Jerome Dickey, Pearl Cleage, Vickie Stringer, Walter Mosley , Trice Hickman, and Tina McElroy Ansa, just to name a few, but these in particular, were icing on the cake for me!!! I tried really hard not to gush and act like a groupie, I’m quite sure all of my trying went out the window, because I had a huge KOOL-AID grin on my face the whole 3 days. Eric, Pearl, Vickie, Trice and Tina, I got to listen to them talk to and take photos with them.

SECURITY !!!

Eric Jerome Dickey
I Love Eric !!!Wooooo Wooooo !!!!!

Walter Mosley

Vickie Stringer

Virginia DeBerry, Donna Hill And Donna Grant

What surprises me MOST TIMES……
Is that all egos are left outside the door. They were loving us as much as we were loving them. No attitude, WOW.

Trice Hickman

I’ve always said I would rather meet an author than a movie star simply said. Why ?? No ego, attitude, or paparazzi

What consistently blows my mind in meeting these Celebrities, and yes that’s what they are to me is that they as wonderful as there stories are, and they are very regular down to earth people who really do care about what we the
groupies ERRRR The Fans, say and they do appreciate us as much as we do them !!!
WELL… MOST OF THEM , but that’s another blog LOL

So I continue my quest to have all of the 1000's of books I own, autographed and to have pictures taken with my Most Favorite Stars on Earth !!!

Lord'Williams autor of Shadows OF The Heart

Hello Lord, how are you!

Tell us, what led you to write Shadows of The Heart?

I released Shadows of the Heart for so many reasons. The book has a paranormal feel to it because I wish to reach those who has physic abilities, to let them know they’re not crazy, most important to embrace their gift and not reject who they are. –The spirituality overtures and scriptures are aim directly at Christians, where I confront the core of our/their faith. –In Shadows, I try to display life as it effects you, I and those we live with. The classic battle between Good and Evil.

Are any of the characters you or someone you know?

This question is asked all the time, and it is so unfair, and that’s for reasons I cannot go into. –But the book is fictionally based on actual living people (and this is the first time I admitted so). –Some events are true, most are not. Who is who, I will never tell. These people are trying to find, or maintain peace within their lives, and I must respect that.

What genre is it?

Fiction – Suspense, Romance,

What is Shadows Of The Heart about?

A husband and wife trying to reconcile their marriage before all hell breaks loose. The main character William, knows he’s about to die, but he don’t know when, or how, and he doesn’t know that woman he put out the house a month earlier is returning to him where she must decide to kill him or not.

What were the easiest and the hardest parts to write?

I easiest parts to write were the sex! LOL. But the rest of it was a job. –This book The Unicorns has been a work in progress for over 15 years. Dealing with real life, and real issues these people faced.

How do the Unicorns fit into the story?

Straight from out the King James Holy Bible. Many people believe unicorns are fairytales, but they are mention 10 time in the bible, along with the many references to the Horn. Unicorns are one of those cannot explain topics so it’s much easier to say “there is no such thing”, or “they got it wrong” –Instead of understanding that everything in God’s world is not privilege us in our degenerate state of existence.

I know your just starting this writing journey, but how has it been?

The publishing world is really a journey. I am learning, which makes it easier to accept, because I like learning. –There is a lot to this business, and that’s something new writers and authors don’t realize, this is a business, and it’s not an easy one to conquer.

Does Shadows have a sequel coming?

Oh yes,
A Stem full of Thorns. So get a box of tissues because there will be cheers and tears at the end.

As a writer, what has been your epiphany?

That I am not an writer. I am a story teller. I have always wanted to be an author, because I have the ability to teach, and help many through the art of telling a story.

What was the killer line in the book for you?

There are a lot of parts in the book I just love, but what kicks at me more than anything is when William explain the tattoo on his back. It jaw dropping.

When should we expect it?

Shadows is available where ever books are sold. If you local bookstore don’t have it, tell them to get it.

What do you like to read?

I have a wide range of genres, drama, suspense, mystery, crime drama, fantasy, horror.

What did you do while writing? Music etc?

I usually play music. I would create playlist, CD’s, tapes, whatever with inspirational themes.

When you finished writing Shadows, how did you celebrate?

You really don’t wanna know, but I’ll tell because you asked. I broke out a cheap bottle of Champagne for the wife and I. Finished our glass and got busy.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself having a wider audience and larger following, if that be God’s will.

What do you want people to know about you?

I want people to know I am just like them. –More than what the eyes can tell.

What is your Book and Contact information?

The title of the book is “Shadows of the Heart” 2nd edition. The book is available everywhere books are sold, or purchase it from my website where I will autograph it for you, and send you free gifts.

What Ever Happened to Black Love?

I can remember the time, I can see it, the love we shared
Pickin' up that cotton together, chained together, bound in true holiness together,
On our hands and knees we were on the ground praying to GOD together
Even looking in your eyes while we were hung together
It was strong
It was based off the struggles we've dealt with
It was based off the honor we gave
It was true, it was real, it was down to earth, and it was deep
Couldn't any man break that bond- It was tight and it was right

What ever happened to Black Love?
When I stand by your side, when the world is trying to destroy you undercover
I am your best friend and I am your lover
When I give birth to your children, so that they may represent who you stand for as Black Man and who I stand for as a Black Woman, and have meaning on this earth
So I may know you are down for me, and that I am down for you all the way
My Black beauty is what you are attracted to and love
You are my Black King and I am your Black Queen,
So let’s go raise our Black prince and princess into the same,
Baby we ain’t got no shame in this Black love game

What ever happened to Black Love?
It’s like, non-existent sometimes, it’s like scarce, it’s like, he just my baby daddy or, she just my baby mama,
Its like, you embarrassed to tell your boys you in love with this Black woman, you'd rather say, she just my friend, nothing more.
You telling everybody, even your own mind that you don't want nothing more from that Black woman
But ain’t that kind of strange, when all she will do is love you and use her own strength to pick you up, when she see you slippin' and expect nothing less from you
She will stand by your side till death,
And you don't want that?

Black man why you embarrassed or scared to be in Love?
Why? You think being a real man doesn’t involve being in love or showing your love?
You say you don’t have time, and just want to scatter around your manhood?
Sounds sort of unsafe, not to mention it can’t really bring you true happiness.
Do you even love Black women? I mean do you really?
Or maybe you see my Black face, and have misconceptions mixed in with your made up annotations that Black women are this or that, mama dramas, and round about attitudes

What ever happen to Black Love?
When the respect that is lost and thrown out the window for this Black woman or Black man
When the prejudging of a Black Man is not only being degraded by the White Man, but also by his own Black sister too
And the Black Man is saying: Black Woman don’t hate on me, when I already got the White man and sometimes the other Black men hating on me too
And Black Women, he’s absolutely right

What ever happen to Black Love?
Love sees no color; I would have to agree with that
But it’s not stupid either, and knows color exist, Love feels it
And when love is hating its own and treating it as though something else is better,
Cause you'd rather be with Heather
Or maybe Ms. Ramirez, cause you think she’s the fairest
No, Brotha', there’s a problem, solve it!
Cause I see you looking at Shaniqua with doubt
Black Man, what’s that all about?

I love my Blackness, I love these big hips and round assets, and I love the thickness of my hair, and all of the styles that I can work with and put it in. And I love the deep brown amber tone of my skin; because nobody else got all these beautiful characteristics, not like me. Don’t you see?
GOD pictured us, and then made us and said, “Black women, I’m going to make you beautiful, Black and unique.
Cause brotha’, why you tryin' to play me, when she over there tryin' to be just like me.

What happened to Black Love?
Because you don't even like who you are,
So now you trying to change me, rearrange me, and than exchange me
My sisters and brothers,
Let’s continue to make that love grow
Spreading our Black love out is OK, But let’s also remember our own as well

Let’s keep it intact, so there won't ever be a question in history as to:
What Ever Happened to Black Love?

------

Bits and pieces have been taken from the spoken word piece entitled, What Ever Happened to Black Love by Tinisha Nicole Johnson. To read this in it's entirety visit the authors website: http://www.tinishanicolejohnson.com/ Click on Poetry and choose the poem entited What Ever Happened to Black Love

Before you pick up the phone and call his wife~

Talia James is young and quite naive. The daughter of an alcoholic mother, Talia had to grow up fast and mother to her younger siblings and cousin.

Needless to say, Talia made some bad choices in life where love and men were concerned. After two broken relationships and two sons, she feels as though she has won the lottery when she meets Andre Peters, a very well-to-do sports agent. The fact that he's married takes a backseat to Talia's happiness.

Imagine her surprise when she calls his wife, Sade, to brag about the on-going affair, and Sade shares some news of her own. Never in her darkest nightmare did Talia imagine that her lover, her knight in shining armor, was HIV positive!

Some things between a husband and wife are best left between that husband and his wife, huh?

Heartwarming stories and poetry that are sure to touch your
hearts and uplift your spirits

Allyson M. Deese opens this spiritual experience with the title piece, "Somebody Prayed For Me," a heartfelt poem that reminds us of the importance of prayer. There are so many things we could have been in life but somebody prayed for you and for me. And now we must pray for others because prayer does change things.

In Silent Cries, Linda R. Herman shares the tale of a teen-aged mother who suffers abuse and rape at the hands of the person she loves. Rape is devastating at any age, but imagine a seventeen year-old girl struggling to get past the pain. With prayer, it is possible.

Tinisha N. Johnson’s short story, Facing Reality, opens our eyes to how much our children are influenced by our actions. A mother tries to drown her sorrows in alcohol but doesn’t realize the affect her behavior has upon her twelve-year-old daughter until she makes a shocking discovery.

Every piece was written with the hope of inspiring and reminding everyone of the importance of prayer.

“Have you ever been in a position where you couldn't or didn't think to pray for yourself? In Somebody Prayed For Me, literary sisters Linda R. Herman, Allyson M. Deese, and Tinisha N. Johnson reminds you of that place. While taking you through the valley, Somebody Prayed For Me, restores faith and an appreciation for that old congregational song.”

Anyone Who Truly Loves

Anyone Who Truly Loves

Anyone who truly loves, loves with their heart and soul
Loves totally, it never grows old.

Anyone who truly loves, knows from the very start
Of all the ups and downs, of how love can be turned around
Of how true love is hard to be found.

Anyone who truly loves, gives of themselves unselfishly,
Putting their wants and desires behind those they love
Praying to God above, for patience and understanding
And support for that undying love.

Anyone who truly loves learns not to break just bend
Learns who they love are also friends and will remain to the end.

Anyone who truly loves will hurt from time to time
Looking for the sings of total peace of mind.

Anyone who truly loves will look back on the past
Realizing that true love will last.

For to understand true love ...... is a lifelong task.

EDC Creations Literary Hallmarks-Our Literary Legacy

EDC Creations 2008 Literary Hallmarks

EDC Creations is proud to announce the books that created an impact, for readers and the EDC Creations network. Our literary hallmarks indicate excellence in writing. These are the books we want to feature to the world. Each year thousands of people — educators, concerned parents, community leaders, authors, poets and publishers — devote their time and resources to presenting the reader with great books! However, too many outstanding books do not get the attention and reader support that they deserve, they float just under the radar. It is our mission to connect readers with these hidden gems and bring them books that will change their lives. We have reviewed all of the books below and these are just a few of the magnificent books we love. Other lists will be posted bi-monthly of our fantastic literary finds.

Readers please take a moment and examine the list below. There is something for all book lovers! The books are NOT listed in any order pertaining to the quality of the literature—they are all 4-5 star reads. Each book on this list will bring something of value to enrich the lives of the readers and to help to strengthen our future generations. If you are a fan of Erotica or Urban Literature, there is a list for you. If you are more in tune with books of a Spiritual or Motivational nature, there is a list for you. Like to live life on the edge and walk on the dark, mysterious side—we have a selection for you too. Enjoy!
